Whether you hate or love Paris, let’s agree on one thing: the city of love is gorgeous. On photos, in person, by the Seine, on the streets, on the parks, and of course, from above, the French capital will at least once in your lifetime take your breath away.
There are wonderful places where you can enjoy stunning views over Paris, and these might be the 7 most amazing spots to do that:
8. The Eiffel Tower
It’s not my favourite. After all, you can’t see the Eiffel Tower from there, but it’s still beautiful, and you can also make your experience last longer by having dinner or lunch at the tower’s restaurant.
Tip: buy the ticket online; it will save you a lot of time.
7. Centre Pompidou
From the 5th floor and from the escalator of the museum, you can contemplate an impressive view over the rooftops of Paris and of Montmartre.
Tip: the entrance is for free on the first Sunday of the month.
6. The terrace of the Galleries Lafayette
Not everyone knows about this one, the view is gorgeous and it’s for free.
Tip: it can be tricky to get up there. You will need to take the elevator and some extra stairs, don’t hesitate to ask someone if you’re not sure how to get there.
5. Tour Montparnasse
The tallest of the 7 and one of the tallest in Paris, offers a 360° view over the city, the possibility of having champagne and lying on the floor looking at the sky.
Tip: no need for booking in advance and you can get a discount if you have the Paris Visite card.
4. Montmartre
As if it wasn’t enough to be one of the prettiest neighbourhoods of Paris, Montmartre also offers amazing views over the city. Dawn and sunsets here are unforgettable.
Tip: getting there early in the morning means you can have the place for yourself, and it’s worth it!
3. Notre Dame Cathedral
The wait and the stairs that leads to the top of the cathedral are worth it. The view is something, and the place gives you the feeling of being in the heart of Paris, probably because you are. Not to mention the place will remind you of the movie “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”.
Tip: arrive as early as possible if you want to avoid the long line. If you don’t mind waiting, the sunset is worth it!
2. 43 Up on the Roof
Probably the most affordable rooftop bar of Paris – still doesn’t mean it’s cheap – this place offers one of the most stunning views over town. Located in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, on the top of the Holliday Inn hotel, the bar isn’t far from the Eiffel Tower, and not too high. Great cocktails and wine.
Tip: reservation required.
1. Arc du Triomphe
It’s hard to compete with this view, which I find the most amazing in Paris, especially at sunset and night. No to mention it’s the perfect place to see the entire Champs-Élysées
Tip: no need for reservation and you can get a discount if you have the Paris Visite card.
