Packing my Suitcase’s first year

Packing my Suitcase's first year!

Exactly 1 year ago I was publishing my first post on Packing my Suitcase. Back then I had no idea how much my life would change, and how serious this blog thing was going to become.

One year has gone by. I have met wonderful people from all over the world, I have given advices about living in Germany, I have told stories, I have shared my passions and my trips with you. My writing improved, so did my photography skills, and thanks to all of you and all your support, I feel ready to begin with the right foot, one more year of travel blogging.

Today, Packing my Suitcase has over 7,000 followers altogether, both across social media and newsletters sign-ups. There are over 75 posts published both in English and Portuguese, over 4,000 comments, and 52,700 page views! Wow, you are awesome! Thank you so much for all your support, you put a smile on my face everyday.

Accomplishments apart, there are some special people I want to thank now, people who have been traveling along with me throughout the last year, people who have been supporting me every day even if they don’t leave a comment, people who appreciate what I do and also people who criticise (very much appreciated):

First of all, thank you to my technical support, my biggest supporter in all possible ways, my travel companion, my lover, my husband: W.

Second, to my traveling dog for always keeping my feet warm while I write my posts… my little everything: Enzzo.

Third, to the members of my family back in Brazil who believe in me and on the success of Packing my Suitcase. I love you.

Fourth, to all of you readers who brighten my day with your comments and silence: you rock my world!

Firth, a very different and special thank you to the top 6 commenters of this blog (in no particular order) throughout this first year:

Thank you for your support and for our great discussions. You have inspired me in many ways, and the least I can do to thank you is to send a postcard from Munich to each one of you! So if you have my e-mail, send me your address, if not, send me via my contact form. It will be a pleasure… I just hope you will understand my handwriting!

To celebrate even more Packing my Suitcase’s first year, I also thought of giving away something very useful for us travellers: a travel book! After a little research I decided to give to one of you: “Make the most of your time on Earth” by Rough Guides, and I am sure that the winner will have some inspiration to travel around the world for a while.

  • Nihar Pradhan

At the outset, thank you so much Allane for mentioning me in your post, that is so nice of you, I have always enjoyed exchanging such lovely thoughts with you.
I am so lucky and happy to have met you…every post of yours have opened new ideas and thoughts, and the learning has been simply amazing. The way you have Enzzo as your family member and taking him to places and taking care of him, is something I keep sharing with all my friends family members.
It is not easy to describe a place in a manner which is fascinating to read and so inspiring to put it in my agenda for visit. Before last year the list was almost insignificant but now after reading all your posts, it has just become almost out of my reach where to go when and not to go is some of the places you have suggested, is about what all I will miss if i don’t go ( you will say, of course the ice creams, the hot chocolates…)…you have always been an inspiration for me.
This is just a beginning of the accomplishments, in numbers what you have achieved are stupendous, and I am sure it is going to grow exponentially.
We shall have many more exciting and insightful conversations in the coming years.
    Cheers to your lovely anniversary.
    πŸ˜€

    • Thank you sooooo much for your always kind words dear Nihar!! It really made my day even better… I am so happy to have met you and to have you as a big supporter of my writing and blog… it is an honour! So mentioning you and sending you a post card is the least I could do.

It makes me soo happy to know that I inspire you in so many ways. I do really hope to continue inspiring you.
Thank you for the wishes and for the lovely words.
I wish you an amazing day. πŸ˜€

      • Nihar Pradhan

This is the power of idea and exchange of thoughts and conversations that enriches us and makes us build newer perspectives…life is just not about the tangibles it is more in its intangibles that makes such a huge difference the way we look at life and deal with our day today activities.
I am indeed very happy to have met you and able to learn so many new facets of life…I preserve these wonderful conversations which are more valuable to me in life.
I am sure we will many more such beautiful discussions and our conversations will never be allowed to be a casualty to anything.
cheers and have a lovely weekend.
