14 Reasons to visit and return to Croatia

Reasons to visit Croatia, by Packing my Suitcase.

On my first visit to Croatia I had no specific reasons in my mind to go there. I didn’t Google “reasons to visit Croatia”, the sea was already enough for me to go there. Though, after my second visit I realized that the sea wasn’t the only reason of my return, there were many others, and I am sure that after the next, and the next visits (yes, I do hope to return at least a few more times) I will discover some more to add to the list.

In the meantime, here are 14 reasons to visit and return to Croatia…

The Food

I have never ordered food in Croatia that I didn’t like. It seems to me that no matter where you go, the food will always be good. Pasta, meat or seafood, I have tried them all.

The Croatians

The Croatians are one of the nicest people I have ever met on my wanderings around the world. They are not only friendly and smiley, but also helpful and the kind of people dedicated to work and family.

The price

I am not sure how long it will last after becoming part of the EU, but the price in Croatia is unbelievable. From food to accommodation, the price is always fair, even in bigger and more touristic cities.

The nature

Croatia is blessed with nature. Caves, sea, lakes, mountains and waterfalls, you can see it all in the country.

The islands

There are over 1000 islands in Croatia and only 47 of them are inhabited! This is a paradise for islands lovers like me.

The History and Culture

Croatia is not only land of 1000 islands; it is also land of 1000 years of history and culture. The country was once inhabited by ancient Greeks, Romans, Slavs, and even Austrians, which resulted in a mix of culture that plays an important role in its art, music, education, gastronomy and more.

The turquoise sea

Can’t afford the Maldives? Well, there is Croatia, its clear and turquoise Adriatic Sea, and of course, its thousand islands. Snorkeling, diving, sunbathing, you name it!

The sunrises and sunsets

I have seen sunsets and sunrises in Croatia to never forget. They are no doubt among the most beautiful I have ever seen.

The climate

When Germany is getting cold, Croatia is still warm, and when Germany is getting warm, Croatia already is, which makes this country the perfect escape from the cold European countries. Did I mention how sunny it is? Even during winter?

Pet friendly

I am always happy to take Enzzo to Croatia. People are always friendly with dogs, there are specific beaches where you can take them, and they even can do boat tours!

The wines

Some regions of Croatia are wine producers for over 2000 years. The main wine produced is the white, followed by red and rosé. In 2012 the country was the 21th largest producer of wine worldwide. I have tried their white wine in Krk Island, and I loved it… I still crave for some once in a while!

Diving

Croatia is where I did my first dive and got my Open Water Diver certification. Some people have no idea that it is possible to dive there, but rest assured: it is possible and it is a place I can highly recommend for beginners.

The architecture

In consequence of all the previous inhabitants of Croatia, there is a beautiful mix of architecture in the country. Roman and Greek ruins predominate. Simply breathtaking; no wonder it was chosen by the producers of the famous series Game of Thrones to serve as one of its scenarios.

The views

From above, on the ground, underwater, Croatia offers unique and unforgettable views. Beautiful landscapes of mountains and sea, lakes and waterfalls… does it sound like paradise to you?

Do I really need to find more reasons to convince you to visit Croatia?
