This month’s review is dedicated to a hotel, but not only just a simple hotel. The Landromantik Wellnesshotel Oswald is a 4 stars superior – more to 5 stars I would say – located in the middle of the breathtaking Bavarian Forest, in Germany, 2 hours by car from Munich. It is owned by a very traditional Bavarian family who will make everything possible to make you feel welcome and happy during your stay.
Pure luxury with a Bavarian touch, the Landromantik Wellnesshotel Oswald is all about relaxing and being in touch with nature, while enjoying outstanding food and turning off your mind from the outside world. Lucky for me, last February I was invited by the Oswald family to stay 2 nights at the hotel, and enjoy all the pampering together with W and my traveling dog, Enzzo.
Arrival and Room
At the reception you can already feel the nice smell of the hotel and the friendly atmosphere. We stayed at the cosy Hirschenstein-Suite, in an all-inclusive basis, and to our delight, the first thing I noticed when we arrived at our room was one of the most pet friendly things I have seen so far in a hotel: a dog mat and a water bowl for Enzzo. How thoughtful is that?
And of course, we immediately fell in love with the inviting bed. Don’t you just want to jump into it and get lost under the cosy blankets?
Our room was simply perfect for the three of us. The bathroom had an amazing relaxing shower and a Jacuzzi, separate toilet (which I love), a balcony with a view to the Bavarian Forest, with special corners with sofas and tables, not to mention the decoration…
Attention to the pampering basket and bathrobes: our friends for the weekend.
The hotel offers many different rooms and suites for everyone’s taste. For families, singles, for couples and pet friendly suites, like ours. You can check all rooms and rates at their website and brochure for more details.
Eating and Drinking
The hotel is well known for its gourmet food, exotic and traditional tastes for every palate. The food was heaven, and I particularly enjoyed our first night’s dinner:
I love breakfasts, and the one from the hotel is among the best I ever had. There is a chef making eggs the way you want right in front of you, a great variety of cereals, juices, coffee and tea, a lot fruits, breads and cakes, sausages, cheese and ham, and the croissant I fell in love with, filled with jam. Waking up was already exciting only to think about the breakfast.
What is interesting about the restaurant is that you will have the same table throughout your stay, and the fact that they have a part where pets are allowed. I found this awesome because normally when I travel with Enzzo, he is never allowed to have breakfast with us at the hotels.
They also have a pretty cool bar with cosy sofas and stools, drinks to match everyone’s taste, and music. The perfect place to finish your relaxing day and to meet up with other guests!
Facilities
After my 2-night-stay at the Landromantik Wellnesshotel Oswald, I came to think that I can easily spend an entire week at the hotel without even going out. There are so many things to keep you busy that your day goes by pretty quickly. Gym, relaxing room, saunas and bath steam rooms, a spa, indoors and outdoor (warmed) pools, relaxing chairs and a stunning view to the forest.
The saunas were very nice, but I specifically enjoyed their dampfbad (bath steam), which is unbelievably relaxing and with an amazing smell of orange. The warm outdoor pools were a highlight, what an amazing idea it is to enter the poor from the inside to avoid the outside cold temperature! The smaller pool has an amazing hydro massage feature, where I could stay the entire day thinking of nothing but the combination of the warm and the cold at the same time plus the stunning view.
Lying at a chair by the indoor pool, reading a book, having a healthy vitamin juice and with a stunning view to the mountains was probably what I did most of the time. Perfect activity to turn off the outside world for a bit!
The Spa
The reception of the Spa is on the 1st floor, and I was surprised to see that the Spa rooms were actually underground. I found it a very nice idea, it gave me the feeling of privacy, not to mention that it was very calm, as well as spacious.
W had a Shiatsu massage and I had a hot chocolate massage, which I am still thinking about until now. Not only was it relaxing, but also made me feel like I was immersed into chocolate… the result: I left the room smelling like a chocolate. I can highly recommend this one to the chocolate fans out there!
Tip: if you are intending to get a massage during your stay, try to book as soon as you arrive at the hotel. It can be booked out very fast.
The Service
The service was simply of a 5 star hotel. From the receptionist to the waiters, the cleaning ladies (who cleaned the room even though Enzzo was there), the spa ladies, the restaurant chefs and the Oswald family. We felt very welcome and very satisfied with the service.
Activities in the area
If you feel like doing something different other than staying at the hotel the entire day, there are many activities to keep you busy in the area:
- Hiking
- Biking
- Nature walks
- Skiing (during winter)
- Visit the Bavarian National Park
- Fishing (summer)
- Canoeing
- Golf
And much more. All arranged and/or organized by the hotel.
Highlights
I found very nice that around the facilities, they have stations with coffee, tea, juice and water for the guests. In the afternoon there are cakes being serves as well. Feel free to take some and recharge your batteries for some more wellness!
I love how much they are pet friendly! Not to mention how much fun you can have with your dog around the region.
The hotel owners have two dogs, Sophie and Bella, and it is possible to take them for a walk if you want! Just let the receptionist know and if they are available you can take them for a walk. How cool is that? No wonder they are so pet friendly!
Hot tip: check out their seasonal special packages or last minute offers for great deals.
If you ever think of immersing yourself into deep relaxation alongside with nature, this is the place for it.
A special thank you to the Oswald family for the great service and for the warm welcome.
