View from the Round Tower
Even though I am afraid of heights, somehow I always try to see a city from above; it gives me an overview of how it looks like from this angle. So, every time I visit a place I look for a nice view, I recently did the same with the beautiful Copenhagen.
I found 3 special places that gave me a very nice overview of Copenhagen from above, each one with its singularity and in different locations. If what you want is a great view, here are 3 breathtaking options for you:
The round tower
The round tower is the oldest functioning observatory in Europe. I found it very interesting that to get up the tower you have to walk in a spiral walk, and because the way it was built, you walk 209 meters to reach the 36 meters high top of the tower!
The round tower offers great views to the old part of Copenhagen, and constantly has exhibitions of art, culture, history and science. There is also a floating glass floor, for those brave enough you can step on the over 50 mm thick glass. You know me, I didn’t do it, but W did it and he got some shots for us.

The Tower, Christiansborg Palace
Christiansborg Palace is where the Danish parliament is located. It is possible to visit a few rooms of the palace, as well as the tower. In order to get up there it is necessary to go through a security check and take two different elevators. I almost gave up half way because of the long and slow line, but I am very glad I didn’t, since it was my favourite view of the city.
The tower is 106 meters high, the highest tower in town, and even though you can’t go all the way up, the view is simply stunning. I was impressed. You can also enjoy the opportunity to have lunch/dinner at the tower’s restaurant.

Church of our Saviour – The Spiral
If you think you have climbed different towers, you are wrong. Going up the Church of Our Saviour is a unique experience and one you will never forget. There are 400 steps to reach the top, and the last 150 steps are the most challenging and not for everyone. Why? Because the stairs are on the outside of the spiral.
The way up to the first stage of the tower are very tight and with old wooden steps, where you need to way some people come down to keep going up, a bit busy! When I reached the first stage I thought: “why do I keep doing this?”. That being said, you might now imagine how I was feeling with the height. Actually you don’t, I was so afraid that I hugged the wall, faced away the view and cried. Yup, that bad for me.
The view is stunning, I know, it was actually voted by the Copenhageners the best in town, but I didn’t manage to go up the remaining 150 steps. It was just too much for me and unfortunately I didn’t enjoy the view as I should have.
