My writing process

Packing my Suitcase

Some of you might have seen around some of our blogger friends posting about their writing process, by simply replying to a few interesting questions. Invited to take part on the Writer’s Blog Tour by the wonderful writer and mother Ting Dalton of My Travel Monkey some weeks ago, I thought the idea to be very interesting and accepted her kind invitation. Thank you Ting for inviting me, it took a while but promise is a promise and here I am!

Each one of us has our own way to prepare new posts for our blogs, and here is my way…

What am I working on?

I am constantly trying to have a good mix of information here at Packing my Suitcase. Some of you probably noticed that I have sections about my expat life in Munich, Formula 1, Diving, Reviews of hotels and restaurants and so on. My decision to do that is simply because I wanted to have a little bit of everything I love that regards to traveling, and I believe I still have some more to add to this list. In the near future I plan to talk a bit more about traveling with pets, and about my dog himself, it might be an interesting topic for the pet lovers who would like to or who often take their puppies on vacation, and for the curious ones too!

How does my work differ from others of its genre?

I believe that everyone have their own writing style, their favorite things to write about and their way of presenting them, so I guess that is how my work differs from others and vise-versa. I find this very nice because one can inspire the other, but in the end each one of our work is different from the other, it has our own touch in it.

Why do I write what I do?

Simply because I love it! I love traveling, and I enjoy very much sharing my experiences with someone – my readers in this case. I believe that it either helps or inspires someone when it comes to traveling plans and ideas. A very nice aspect of this is that my writings are also helpful to me, not only to remember my trips, but also tips… sometimes we do forget a few things about a certain destination, and there it is our post from last year to remind us.

How does my writing process work?

I love to plan, so I have a monthly plan for my posts and I try to follow them as deadline approach. As I normally already know what I am going to write about, I begin to think of a nice way of communicating my experience… some of the topics can be a little difficult to find inspiration, but with the majority the inspiration flows very easily.

I like to write my texts early in the morning; somehow that’s the time my mind is exploding with ideas! Of course, sometimes the inspiration comes and I just start writing, but before I publish anything, I read and re-read the text again and again. Then of course, I translate it to my Portuguese version. A bit of work I know, but I love it!
